Mandala Yoga Ashram Meditation Training Course
from Yogic and Buddhist perspectives
September 2008 – July 2009

This unique course provides a rare opportunity to explore and deepen meditation practice based on two ancient and well established traditions: Yoga and Buddhism.
We will practise and reflect on a wide range of areas including:

  • Insight into the function of the mind
  • Transformation of heart and mind
  • Stillness and relaxation
  • Sound and silence
  • Reflection and inquiry
  • Spaciousness and emptiness
  • The mystery of the ‘I’, me and mine
  • Wisdom and compassion
  • Philosophy and theory of meditation.

The course is oriented toward direct personal experience to allow insight and transformation. Study of key texts will provide a theoretical context to support this process.

The tutors:

  • Swami Nishchalananda Saraswati: is the Director of Mandala Yoga Ashram which he founded in 1986. He spent 14 years in India under the guidance of Swami Satyananda Saraswati. He taught Yoga throughout the subcontinent and in 1985 returned to Europe. Since then he has been teaching Yoga throughout Europe and in India.
  • Michal Cohen: has studied and practised Buddhist philosophy and meditation for 15 years and has been teaching since 2000. She has spent extended periods in solitude and silent contemplation in different meditation centres and monasteries. Michal is presently living in Mandala Yoga Ashram and teaching in Asia and Europe.
